For tool training, the new training procedure will be as follows:
- Review the pre-training materials available on SUMS. The pre-training materials include:
- Tool Instructions
- Equipment Manual
- Tutorial or safety videos (if applicable)
- After completing these requirements, you will be able to request an initial training session for the tool on SUMS
- Access the live stream for the initial training session on the IEN YouTube streaming platform at the scheduled time. The trainer will be using a GoPro to live stream the training session.
- After the training session is complete, the test will be made available on SUMS. Researchers must pass the test with at least 80% to be able to schedule the check-off session
- Individual in-person check-off sessions will be held in the labs and cleanrooms with the individual standing in the portable transparent barrier and the trainer outside the barrier guiding the user in the check-off session (pictures of the barrier can be found to the right of the page).
- After the researcher demonstrates adequate knowledge of the tool usage and safety, the researcher will receive access to the tool.
We will be implementing these and other changes over the next few weeks with the goal of resuming training and checkoffs as soon as possible. As the pre-training materials are being developed, training will be made available on select tools. We will do everything we can to accommodate all training requests but please be patient with us as we work to ensure the safety and efficacy of our modified training program.
